ESFI utilized funds provided by a 2011 Fire Prevention and Safety (FP&S) Grant from the Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency to develop this dynamic, new fire prevention and electrical safety awareness program.
Program materials, starring ESFI's quirky Private I. Plug mascot, deliver critical electrical and fire safety information to elementary school children in grades 3-5. These resources have been developed in accordance with new Common Core State Standards.
The P.I. Plug says, "Be Smart About Fire and Electrical Safety!" classroom toolkit can be downloaded in two sections or each of the individual components may be downloaded separately using the links below:
Once they've completed the classroom activities, the Teacher Answer Keys will help you check your students' work.
If you would like to extend your fire and electrical safety curriculm beyond the resource provided in the classroom toolkit, we invite you to utilize the supplemental lesson plan and student activity that have been developed to reinforce the fire and electrical safety concepts of the Be Smart About Fire and Electrical Safety program.
After introducing th safety concepts to your students with the Be Smart About Fire and Electrical Safety classroom toolkit and supplemental resources, encourage your students to participate in ESFI's Fire and Electrical Safety Contest.
