Electricity is a powerful tool. It can also be a lethal hazard. Better safety standards have reduced electrical hazards that cause deaths, injuries and property damage. But good safety habits are still the best prevention against electrical hazards.

Label Your Electric Panel

ESFI recommends that every adult learn to safely access the breaker/fuse panel in order to turn off and restore electricity in a home.

In order to make it easy to mark your breakers/fuses, ESFI has produced a sheet of pre-printed labels, and stickers that reinforce safe electrical practices. Click HERE to view a sample of the electric panel lables.

ESFI and the U.S. Consumber Product Safety Commission (CPSC) are joining together to promote CPSC's video, "Wired for Safety" and the companion booklet, "Guide to Home Wiring Hazards." The 12-minute video contains information about old electrical wiring hazards in the home and how to fix them. The Guide helps you find electrial dangers in your home before they cause fires or electrical shock. It also provides guidance for pinpointing the locations fo problems within your electrical systems before yu seek professional assistance.
